Program Goal

  • The Deaf Mentor Program is a free program for families in New Jersey that matches Deaf Mentors to families. ASL Deaf Mentors are adults who are culturally Deaf; they interact with families using ASL, provide ASL instruction, teach families about Deaf culture and introduce them to the Deaf community. Snapshots Deaf Mentors are adults who are deaf or hard of hearing, representing the full range of hearing levels, communication choices, technology use and educational placement; they will share and answer questions about their experiences growing up with a hearing loss.
